We are happy that you found us and hope that we can be of some service
to you and your loved ones.
We are a non-profit charity dedicated to all
areas dealing with Bone Marrow Transplant. We feel it is vital
that anyone who finds them selves in this or a similar situation should
try and seek as much information as possible. It is important to be informed,
with both medical and general information.
You will have to make many decisions that are difficult, family involved, scary
and far reaching. We believe discussing this with people who
have gone through similar situations can be a great help and a source of
comfort. Just knowing you are not alone is comforting.
- Our foundation does not deal with a particular disease or condition
but rather with general information concerning bone marrow transplants.
- Our information is not medical in nature. We do not pretend
to have all the answers, or that we are in any fashion professionally
educated in this field, but rather, we are a family who have
traveled a similar road that you are about to embark on.
- We
do have links to sites that are written by the medical profession
and it is recommended that you view these. This web site deals
with the experience that one family encountered. We have had
numerous discussions with doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists,
and other parents and feel that this general guideline and self
help advice is a good stating point.
Always seek professional medical help prior to making a potentially
life rendering decision. In today's world changes happen very
quickly.
The sole reason that this foundation exists is because a whole
lot of people cared and gave strength to a family in need, because
a town and its surrounding community backed it spiritually, financially,
socially, and morally.
This foundation was named after Deidre Scholtz
and all Friends (known & unknown) who helped Deidre
and her family during their crisis. Deidre's phenomenal story inspired
her parents to create this special foundation.
The founders thought that the best way to achieve their goals was to
create a foundation that actually does not relate to a specific disease
but rather on the method of treatment called bone marrow transplant.
This method of treatment is usually the last hope of
recovery.
